A few photos from the Valentines Day “Love Train” tour of the Love Letter murals in West Philadelphia. The Mural Arts Program chartered an el train for the tour. Artist and creator of the project, Steve Powers guided it over the sold out train’s PA. A good time was had by all. Click photos to enlarge:

Weekend storm left me in a weakened condition. Head, throat hurt. General exhaustion. Sick. Weak. Out of chicken soup and running low on rock salt. Photo shows roads impassable. Highways closed. Trains idle. Streets empty. Here’s hoping all that ice on those wires doesn’t get too heavy.

EDIT: As darkness fell, a tree collapsed in the street…. just below the wire that leads to my house. I chipped ice off the lines, but internet is sporadic. I probably shouldn’t have stood under the rest of this tree to get this shot, but it is a cool shot:

Suburban Station and the underground network of rooms, tunnels and corridors below center city Philly is a great place for photos. Yes, the light is about as bad as it can be and I run the risk of being mistaken for some kind of terrorist (photos are technically legal, but so is being questioned for having a camera) but opportunities for interesting photos are everywhere.
In the past week, I’ve taken a dozen promising shots and will continue taking photos down there until I’ve got something I’ve never done before… created a body of work with a clear and consistent theme. Here’s a flute player who practices in a lonely stairwell. Many more to come. Click to enlarge:
