Sebastião Salgado

Salgado has the unusual ability to photograph things that you can’t actually see. I don’t mean this in a usual or intuitive sense. It’s not that he does what every photographer does, which is to capture the unseen. It’s more like he somehow captures the insomniac half-dreams of some restless deity. I can’t begin to imagine how he does it. Sometimes I think he’s more seer than photographer.
